The
Outdoor Channel is currently in production on a
Scouting related TV show, Scouting TV. Set to
air in the Spring of 2008, this show will highlight
Scouts, Scouting values, and of course the fun we
have. One of the features will be “Do One Daily”
which will focus on a unit as they conduct a service
project. This feature is the perfect opportunity for
your Scouts to show all the great service they
provide – all done in a home-movie style.
Please see the attached document for further
information.
Here’s
where we need your help. We are looking for home
video that may already exist. Or, if you have a unit
who will be conducting a service project in the near
future, let them know what we’re looking for so
they can video tape it.
This
TV program will have a positive impact on the
awareness of Scouting in your community. It will
open the doors to new volunteers and members.
See
the flyer below for further details if you have any
questions contact Chris or Teno at the scout office.

Policy
on Scout Participation in Political Events
With
the presidential election coming up in 2008, it is a
good time to restate the BSA’s long-standing policy
regarding the participation of Scouts in political
rallies and other political events.
Uniformed
unit members and leaders may participate in flag
ceremonies at political events and may lead the Pledge
of Allegiance; however, they should retire after the
ceremony and not remain on the speakers’ platform or
in a conspicuous location where television viewers
could construe their presence as an endorsement or
symbol of support. In addition, photos of candidates
or Scouts in uniform or BSA marks and logos are not
allowed in political campaign materials of any kind.
Volunteers
and professionals must be alert to situations that
would imply that the BSA favors one candidate over
another. Strict observance of our long-standing policy
against the active participation of uniformed Scouts
and leaders in political events is mandatory.
If
you have any question on this policy as it applies to
your unit's upcoming political campaign Please
contact either your District Director Teno Navarro (Teno@catalinalinacouncil.org)
or your Scout Executive Joseph
N. Daniszewski

| By my estimates
it has been about a year since I took on the role of
being the Chief Distributor of information for
the district. Hopefully the method I applied to
the madness has been of benefit to both our District
Leadership but most importantly you the readers of the
Email blast and the Spanish Trails District web page.
I have put these together in a way that I felt was
the most logical. Now its time to get your
input. I have put together a little survey that
I would like you give me your opinions. Tell me what
you like, what you dislike and what would you change.
