What is a Roundtable?
Roundtable is exactly what it implies – it really is an opportunity for scouters as a group to have an opportunity for an equal exchange of ideas. Boy Scout and Cub Scout leaders and interested parties meet together to discuss relevant issues in our troops and packs today. The environment of Roundtable with breakout sessions create the possibility of an open exchange of ideas while prepared materials are reviewed.
Do you have questions about how to solve issues in your troop or pack? Roundtable is a perfect opportunity to get different ideas and feedback to take back home with you.
In addition to the back and forth openness at Roundtable, there is an opportunity to have access to council information and assistance. Also, this is the perfect opportunity to have input on council and district events.
The BSA continues to update requirements and training to provide the best program for all Scouts. Roundtable is the perfect opportunity to keep abreast of these changes and make sure your pack or troop is moving in the right direction.
District Committee Meeting
Participants: Those who have solutions and positive ideas to help with planning and facilitating the many events and happenings within Spanish Trails. Any Scouter or parent in the District is welcome to join in and assist the committee in helping units. There are lots of meetings of smaller groups during the month. On the fourth Tuesday of each month the full committee gets together to coordinate events and work to provide assistance to units. The meeting is structured so that the first part is information and participation for Chartered Organization Representatives and then a work session for the committee.
What is a District Committee?
The district committee is a group of Scout leaders who join together to support the 120 units in the district. The committee is made up of functional district committees that help units in Membership, Fund Raising, Training, Advancement, Camping, and Program Events. The District Commissioner and the Order of the Arrow Chapter Adviser are also on the committee as are the Representatives of all 52 district Chartered Organizations. The committee coordinates events such as the Pinewood Derby, Leader Training, Camporees, Day Camps and Eagle Scout Boards of Review.
