The Boy Scouts of America, Catalina Council hosts many outdoor camping events and throughout the year to support our mission of providing youth leadership and development programs to the kids of Southern Arizona.

Jamboree-on-the-Air (JOTA)

This event is organized by the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) every few years, and Scouts from all over the world can communicate with each other through radio waves or other means via internet. 

Bear Down Under the Stars

This campout happens every year at Arizona Stadium on the UArizona campus. After the football game, Scout units are allowed to camp on the football field under the stars.


This campout occurs every year at Camp Lawton Scout Camp. Scouts from Southern Arizona and Sonora, Mexico meet to exchange skills experiences, and fellowship.

DeAnza Trek

This campout occurs every year at Tumacacori National Monument, near Tubac, AZ. Scouts walk the historic trail and participate in trail maintenance and various religious activities.

Council Camporee

The Council organizes an annual camporee that brings together Scouts from all over the Southwest for camping, fellowship, and outdoor skills.

National Jamboree

The National Scout jamboree is a gathering, or jamboree, of thousands of members of the Boy Scouts of America, usually held every four years and organized by the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
