District Award of Merit Recipients

The District Award of Merit is awarded by a District to volunteer and professional adults for service to youth in the District. Normally, the award is presented for service to youth in excess of five years.

2020 District Award of Merit Recipients

Sky Islands District held a reception for our 2020 Merit Recipients on February 9, 2021 at Double V Scout Ranch. Enjoy these highlights!

Scott Madsen

Scott Madsen entered the scouting movement as a Wolf in Cub Scouts in 2nd grade. He continued as a Boy Scout into high school, serving various leadership positions, including Senior Patrol Leader. In 11th grade, in May of 1992, he was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout.

Brie Mullen

A woman of many hats. Both personally and professionally, Brie has dedicated herself to ensuring a better future for our children and their families. By day, Brie works to increase learning opportunities and academic success for students. At closing time, she switches hats, and her focus becomes her family!

Garrett Hicks

Garrett Ford Hicks is a native Tucsonan. He joined Pack 211 at Donaldson Elementary in third grade. He crossed over to Troop 211 where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 2010. As a youth, Garrett held Troop positions of Quartermaster, Patrol Leader twice, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader in 2011 and Senior Patrol Leader in 2012. He also planned and led a Webelos Wood and Camporee hosted by Troop 211 for units throughout the Council.

Adam Contrades

Adam Bradley Contrades began his Scouting career as a Tiger Cub in 1st grade when he joined Pack #299 at Copper Creek Elementary School. He earned his Arrow of Light on May 5, 2007. He joined Troop #209 two weeks later and that is when the real fun began! He was a continually active member of Troop #209 as a youth and held many leadership positions.
