“I can hardly think of an aspect of my life that wasn’t positively affected by my camping experience…What a gift camp gives to kids.” – Christopher Reeve
BURT LAZAR CAMPERSHIP FUND – Boy Scouts of America, Catalina Council’s “Send a Scout to Camp” fund.
Summer camp is more than just a place to have fun. It offers the Scouts the opportunity to participate in physically and intellectually challenging activities, introduces them to new and rewarding experiences, and provides them with supportive and caring relationships. Every Scout should have the opportunity to go to summer camp.

Burt Lazar, of blessed memory, prominent Tucsonan and former Scoutmaster of Troop 100, presented Catalina Council with a challenge, to raise $50,000 over five years and he would match the funds. His goal was to seed a permanent campership fund. Thus insuring that camp scholarships for those Scout who couldn’t afford camp would be able to go to Scout Camp at Camp Lawton. The challenge was met and we have a endowed campership fund. But to ensure that the campership need is always met please consider making a contribution to the Burt Lazar Campership Fund.
