Catalina Council Announces Scholarship Opportunities for Eagle Scouts
The Catalina Council, Boy Scouts of America would like to announce the launch of two new Eagle Scout scholarships thanks to a generous five-year grant from the Kasser Family.
The Kasser Family wanted to specifically recognize the Eagle Scouts of Catalina Council and reward motivated young men and woman to achieve their educational and/or training goals. Unlike many other scholarships, this is not limited to university or college attendees but includes those attending a technical or trade school. Special consideration will be provided for youth who have demonstrated an aptitude for business, artistic, or entrepreneurial spirit. The scholarships are $1,000 each.
All completed applications must be delivered to or postmarked for delivery
no later than Tuesday, June 30, 2020.

By submitting this application to Catalina Council, I understand that this application is for the 2020-2021 academic year. Scholarships will be awarded upon enrollment in a qualifying program. I further understand that by submitting this application, I am agreeing that my name and photographs/images I am in can be used in promotional materials including but not limited to announcements, press releases and social media related to this scholarship opportunity.
Deadline to Submit completed applications, including required documents must be delivered or postmarked for delivery to Jeff Hotchkiss, Scout Executive, Boy Scouts of America, Catalina Council 2250 E. Broadway Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85719 no later than Tuesday, June 30, 2020. Please include your original application and personal statement along with copies of your supporting documents.
KASSER FAMILY EAGLE SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES AND CRITERIA
The Kasser Family wanted to specifically recognize the Eagle Scouts of Catalina Council and reward motivated young men and woman to achieve their educational and/or training goals. Unlike many other scholarships, this is not limited to university or college attendees but includes those attending a technical or trade school. Special consideration will be provided for youth who have demonstrated an aptitude for business, artistic, or entrepreneurial spirit.
While other factors may be considered, all interested applicants meeting the criteria are welcome, there is no minimum grade point nor is there a needs test.
The scholarship is offered to Catalina Council Eagle Scouts, which includes Pima, Cochise, Santa Cruz Counties and part of Pinal County.
Selections will be based on an application that includes::
- Completed Application Form;
- Personal Statement of Motivation (500-750 words);
- Official Scouting Record;
- Copy of Eagle Scout Project Workbook or Report of Project;
- Copy High School Transcript;
- Rank of Eagle Scout received in Catalina Council;
- Need is NOT a primary criteria but may be considered;
- Other criteria as may be determined by the selection committee; and
While the current year 2019 Class of Catalina Council Eagle Rank recipients are invited to apply, any Catalina Council Eagle Scout can apply.
Final award provided upon receipt of acceptance letter or enrollment verification from a post-secondary institution, including vocational and trade programs.
The Selection committee will consist of the Scout Executive or designee, a member of the Executive Committee of the Board or designee and a member of the Eagle Recognition Event committee.

Project Display (Strongly Encouraged but Optional): Eagle Scout Honorees can put up a display at the annual Eagle Recognition Dinner. You will have approximately 3 feet of a banquet table for your display. The contents of your project are your decision. We suggest a 3-part stand-up poster board and your Eagle Project Notebook. You will not have walls to hang items. The projects will be judged by a panel of judges based upon the information provided in your display. Prizes will be given for First Place, Second Place and Third Place. The First Place Eagle project that Catalina Council selects will be submitted to region for the Glenn A. and Melinda W. Adams Eagle Scout Service Project of the Year Award.

Slideshow (Strongly Encouraged by Optional) A video of new Eagle Scouts will be shown at the annual Eagle Recognition Dinner. To be included, we must have 2-3 photos submitted to email@example.com. Deadline to submit these photos to be included in the slideshow is Friday, December 20, 2019 at 5:00 pm. At a minimum, please provide a headshot of the new Eagle Scout.

Dinner & Program: During the annual Eagle Recognition Dinner, he Eagle Scout Honorees will sit together at special tables. They will not sit with their families. Table Sponsors and Individual Eagle Scout Sponsors will sit at reserved tables. All other attendees and family members will sit open style seating.
There is no cost for the 2020 Eagle Honorees. They attend as guests of Catalina Council.
Family members and Eagle Supporters can purchase individual seats. Several sponsorship levels are also available. Additional information about sponsorships is available on this website.
Registration is required for this event. All paticipants must be registered and paid prior to the event.
