The five-day Master Educator Course is Leave No Trace’s comprehensive education course.
Participants are provided with in-depth training on Leave No Trace skills and ethics through practical application during a field-based course. Participants learn Leave No Trace techniques through a variety of methods—including discussions, scenarios, demonstrations, and hands-on activities—throughout all five-days of the field-based course.
The Master Educator Course is also designed to prepare participants to be the best possible teachers of Leave No Trace regardless of setting.

This course is open to both Scouters and the general public. Must be at least 18 years old to register.
Course Description: The five-day Master Educator course is designed for people who are actively teaching outdoor skills or providing recreation information to the public. This valuable training is recognized throughout the world by the outdoors industry, land management agencies, and the outdoor recreation community.
Master Educators can train others in Leave No Trace skills as well as facilitate Leave No Trace Trainer courses and awareness workshops.
Recognition: Upon completion of the course, master educators will receive the Leave No Trace Master Educator patch from the Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics, along with a course certificate.
Participants who complete the course are equipped to:
- Understand, demonstrate, and teach minimum impact techniques.
- Lead outdoor ethics discussions and help others explore their own personal outdoor ethic; and,
- Conduct Leave No Trace Awareness Workshops and Leave No Trace Trainer Courses.
